There are many out there that say “lets wait until someone else proves the technology works,” Joseph W. Calloway has been a master at using new technology to enhance the story telling experience. He has been the first Director of Photography to successfully return Multi-Camera Sitcoms using pedestal mounted cameras to the thirty-five millimeter formatted lenses.

The Disney Channel's K.C. Undercover 2017 Emmy Nominated Director of Photography's other milestones include being among the first three African-American Assistant Cinematographers; Camera Operators and Directors of Photography to climb the ladder in Hollywood. Thanks to mentors; like Joseph M. Wilcots; Gil Hubbs, ASC; Kenny Lampkin, ASC; and John Alonzo, ASC. Calloway became the first DP to film a 24P digital sitcom at CBS Television City. Callowayʼs other D.P. credits including South By Northwest, Townsend Television, The Parentʼ Hood, The Gregory Hines Show, Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher, The Show, Abby, The Big House, Quintuplets, Good Luck Charile, Pair of Kings, K.C. Undercover and Bunk'd, among others.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of Josephʼs cinematic journey is nurturing and guiding projects for several talented women directors and many talented young directors in Hollywood, including: One Red Rose, Richard III, Something to Sing About and Magdalena for Charlie Jordan-Brookins, Cuttinʼ Da Mustard for Reed McCants, Sky Captain for Mary Neema Barnette, One Last Time and Circle of Pain for Bobby Mardis, Legal Deceit for Monika Harris, The Second Coming for Blair Underwood, and Kangaroo Court for Sean Astin.
In April of 2017 Blair Underwood's The Second Coming was inducted into the Smithsonian Museum of African-American History.In July of 2017 Calloway was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography on a Multi-camera Sitcom, for the Disney Channel Series, K.C. Undercover.
